2017 Mitsubishi Mirage Pays A Visit To The Cosmetic Doc

http://www.carscoops.com/2015/11/2017-mits...s-visit-to.html

(IMG:http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ndl3A-9uRh4/Vk0eLRhLwBI/AAAAAAABPWc/auGd-9PTtx4/s1600/Mitsubishi-Mirage-2016-15005.jpg)

There’s so much you can do to a car like the Mirage to make it look better without starting from scratch, but we’ll give Mitsubishi points for trying.

What you’ll notice about the 2017 Mirage is the new face with more upscale-looking trim and headlamps, which work together with a redesign hood and bumper. At the back, Mitsubishi gave the small hatch a new set of tail lamps and a re-profiled bumper. The profile remains unchanged with the exception of the new alloy wheel designs.

The mid-cycle facelift brought some updates to the interior as well, with new seat fabrics, gauge cluster, steering wheel and shift panel, while the 2017 Mirage is the first Mitsubishi to support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto through the available 300-watt Rockford-Fosgate audio system with EcoPunch.

Power continues to come from a slightly improved 1.2-liter 3-cylinder DOHC engine featuring the latest version of “Mitsubishi Innovative Valve-timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) and a new roller-type camshaft, to increases its output to 78hp and 74 lb-ft of torque.

The 2017 model also benefits from a re-tuned suspension and bugger diameter brakes all-around.

"Mirage owners are looking for a vehicle that does its job well and is reliable,” commented Mitsubishi North America boss, Don Swearingen. “The Mirage continues to deliver all of those attributes, and the improvements to the 2017 model year will expand the Mirage's appeal even more."

The updated Mirage will reach US showrooms in spring 2016, with pricing to be released.

Next Mitsubishi Mirage to get Renault platform, new name?

Mitsubishi might resurrect one of its most storied nameplates.

The Mirage is the exception in Mitsubishi's SUV and crossover offensive. The pint-sized city car will return for at least one additional generation, and a recent report sheds insight into what we can expect from it.

British magazine Auto Express learned the Mirage (pictured) will morph into a Ford Fiesta-fighting model, which suggests it will grow in every dimension. Mitsubishi recently joined the Renault-Nissan group, so it is able to borrow the platform that will underpin the next-generation Clio scheduled to make its debut next year.

"Designing and building a bespoke platform is expensive, and the margins in the small car sector are smaller. So are we looking to use Renault and Nissan platforms in that segment? The answer is yes," affirmed Vincent Cobee, Mitsubishi's corporate vice-president and product planning head, in an interview with Auto Express.

Power will come from Renault's turbocharged three-cylinder gasoline engine, a unit also found in the smart fortwo and the Twingo, among numerous other models. Mitsubishi has previously hinted it wants to introduce an all-electric variant of the next-gen Mirage, too.

The magazine adds Mitsubishi might retire the Mirage name to signal the car's new positioning. Nothing is official yet, but the Colt nameplate used on over a dozen models between 1962 and 2012 could make a comeback.

New Mitsubishi Mirage Reportedly Getting Next-Gen Renault Clio Platform

http://www.carscoops.com/2017/11/new-mitsu...reportedly.html

(IMG:https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KqdmUKLc5GI/WgAx3V3obFI/AAAAAAABIPY/KERYe_m0MRcbstKnhR9ErnJIuOKAkSJxQCLcBGAs/s1600/2018-Mitsubishi-Mirage-0.jpg)

Mitsubishi are looking to challenge the likes of the Opel Corsa and Ford Fiesta with their very own supermini, which will serve as a replacement for the current Mirage.

It remains unknown at this point whether it will keep its moniker, but it will be offered across the European market, based on the same mechanicals as the next generation Renault Clio and Nissan Micra, AutoExpress reports.

"Designing and building a bespoke platform is expensive, and the margins in the small car sector are smaller. So, are we looking to use Renault and Nissan platforms in that segment [B]? The answer is yes", said the Japanese brand's corporate vice president and product planning chief, Vincent Cobee, who joined Mitsubishi last year, when Nissan bought a controlling stake.

The new Mitsubishi Mirage is expected to use small three- and four-cylinder engines, some of which will be shared with the Dacia brand, as well as the Smart ForTwo and ForFour. Moreover, the subcompact car is also believed to gain a fully electric version in the future, as it plays an important role in helping the automaker achieve their emissions regulations.

If Mitsubishi Made A Mirage Out Of A Micra

After joining the Renault-Nissan Alliance, Mitsubishi is looking to renew its lineup, and besides a new generation Outlander, they're also interested in a more modern supermini.

Source claim that this job has fallen onto the Mirage, which will be replaced by an entirely new generation within the next couple of years.

It has been reported that it will share the same architecture as the next Renault Clio and Nissan Micra, sporting a range of three- and four-cylinder engines, some of which will be familiar, as they will be divided between the Dacia and Smart brands as well.

This should help Mitsubishi's next supermini become a more viable challenger to the likes of the Peugeot 208, Opel/Vauxhall Corsa, and others.

And while we know what its foundation stone will be, not much has been reported about its design - yet. However, Photoshop artist Kleber Silva came up with a very cost- and time-effective idea, both for...himself and Mitsubishi: re-branding the current Nissan Micra into a Mirage with a face borrowed from the latest Outlander.

We're hoping Mitsubishi will do more than that when time comes to present its Mirage replacement.

http://www.carscoops.com/2017/12/is-mitsub...-worst-new.html

Is The Mitsubishi Mirage America's Worst New Car On Sale?

(IMG:https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZBwJacl48h8/WkVVVSrXmSI/AAAAAAABAQs/SuX-0D7Xn2gJjk9XQ6TrAkNTIxNAVxNOgCLcBGAs/s1600/Mirage-Worst.jpg)

Small economy cars are almost never described as being fun but the Mitsubishi Mirage is probably one of the few new cars right now that don’t even know what fun means.

There’s a general blandness surrounding the small Mitsubishi while the obvious cost-cutting in places is really obvious and never lets you forget that this is one of the cheapest new cars in the market right now.

Of course these cars are used for commutes and nothing much more really and while the Mirage is more than capable of getting you safely to your destination, people who like cars will almost definitely prefer something a bit more interesting for their everyday travels.

Even the three-cylinder engine is laughably small and underpowered -by U.S. standards, mind you- measuring 1.2 liters in capacity and producing 78hp and 74lb-ft of torque. Opt for the CVT automatic transmission and then you’ll get the perfect car to make your petrolhead friends hate you eternally.

Want to know more about this fascinatingly cheap Mitsubishi? Let Doug DeMuro then give you a tour around the strongest contender for the title of USA’s worst new car right now.

2020 Mitsubishi Mirage to share platform with next Juke

https://www.leftlanenews.com/2020-mitsubish...uke-100969.html

(IMG:https://photos5.leftlanenews.com/photos/content//thumbs/mitsubishi-mirage-gt_1050.jpg)

Economies of scale are at work at the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance.

The next-generation Mitsubishi Mirage will share a platform with the next Nissan Juke, which itself will share a platform with many other vehicles in the Nissan, Renault and Mitsubishi universe.

The report comes from Japanese website Response, which also says Mitsubishi is targeting sportier hatches like the Suzuki Swift. The engine is expected to be either a 0.9-liter turbocharged inline-three, good for 94 horsepower, or a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel. An all-electric version is rumored, but remember, these powertrains are for non-US markets.

The car will be built off of the Renault-Nissan CMF-B platform, a modular platform analogous to the VW Group's MQB platform. Currently, the Nissan Rogue, Rogue Sport, and the European-market Pulsar, as well as Renault Megane, Kadjar, Talisman, and Espace V are some of the vehicles built on the CMF-C and D platforms.

By 2019, the Mirage, Juke, Renault Clio and Captur, as well as the Dacian Sandero III and Logan III, will all share the CMF-B platform.

The report says that styling will be more aggressive than the current Mirage, with cues taken from the Colt Ralliart hot hatch and Lancer Evolution. The Mirage should appear in 2019 as a 2020 model.
