Can Mitsubishi Win Back Its Mojo With The New Eclipse Cross?

https://www.carscoops.com/2018/01/mitsu ... t-segment/

Controversially named after a sports car produced until 2012, the new Eclipse Cross is Mitsubishi's new contender in the highly-popular compact crossover segment.

Previewed by the 2015 XR-PHEV study, it's the brand's first product launched under Nissan ownership, although the latter had nothing to do with its development.

It slots above the ASX, known as the Outlander Sport in North America, and the Outlander, and it challenges the likes of vehicles such as the Nissan Qashqai/Rogue Sport, with a rather funky styling dominated by the X-shaped front end and split rear window.

Surprisingly, joining the taillights with a light strip that spans across the width of the rear windscreen glass, doesn't affect visibility that much, as PitStop found in their review. They also note that the interior is quite nice, with quality materials, comfortable front seats, and plenty of room on the adjustable rear seats.

The floating-style infotainment system that can be controlled via a touchpad located near the gear selector, may take a couple of minutes to get used to, but once users figure it out, it turns out to be quite intuitive and easy to navigate through.

Powering the test car is a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine rated at 163hp, which is mated to a six-speed manual transmission, but buyers have the option of a CVT as well, along with a 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel unit and all-wheel drive in Europe.

The petrol-burner would be enough for most consumers, as it's quiet at normal revs, but it can become a bit noisy on the highway.

In the U.S., the new Eclipse Cross will go on sale this March with a starting price of $23,295.

2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross arrives in the U.S., pricing starts at $24,290 . The compact crossover goes on sale next month

https://www.autoblog.com/2018/02/22/201 ... s-pricing/

The first shipment of the 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross has arrived in the United States. Mitsubishi's new all-wheel drive compact crossover will go on sale in showrooms in early March with a starting price of $24,290, including a destination charge of $995.

The Eclipse Cross debuted last year at the Geneva Motor Show with design cues borrowed from the XR-PHEV II Concept from 2015. The exterior design, which Mitsubishi says is inspired by a runner in the "Get set" position, includes a forward-raked rear window, wedge profile and deep side crease. Its starting price slots it just below competitors like the Honda CR-V and Hyundai Tucson, and it will come in four trim levels.

Those include the base ES, which is the only trim available with front-wheel drive. Adding all-wheel drive, or S-AWC in Mitsubishi speak, adds only $600 to the base price. The LE S-AWC trim starts at $25,890 and the range-topping SE S-AWC starts at $27,390, though neither are eligible for options, so those are pretty much the prices customers will be dealing with.

All trim levels are powered by a direct-injection turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-four that makes 152 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The S-AWC acronym would stand for Super All-Wheel Control, Mitsubishi's system that manages torque supplied to each wheel for added straight-line stability and cornering performance. It offers three selectable driving modes — auto, snow and gravel — to enhance performance. Safety technology includes blind-spot warning and lane-change assist, forward collision mitigation and lane-departure warning, plus a system that automatically adjusts headlight brightness to the conditions.

Interior features include an available 7-inch infotainment display with a touchpad controller, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus voice recognition via Google Assistant or Siri. There's also a full-color LCD head-up display available. A dual-pane sunroof and heated rear seats are some of the other niceties.

The Eclipse Cross joins the brand's stable of crossovers, the Outlander and slightly smaller Outlander Sport, which helped Mitsubishi to a banner year in 2017, selling more than 100,000 vehicles for the first time in a decade. It also joins the Outlander PHEV, also new for 2018.

First Batch Of 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SUVs Arrives In The USA

https://www.carscoops.com/2018/02/first ... rives-usa/

The first batch of US-spec Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SUVs has arrived in the United States ahead of the model’s early March dealership debut.

The new Eclipse Cross will start from $23,925 MSRP in the base ES version. Power is provided by a turbocharged 1.5-liter petrol engine with direct injection producing 152hp and 184lb-ft (250Nm) of torque.

Mitsubishi will offer their Super All-Wheel Control system, which is integrated with other systems like the active stability control, ABS, and Active Yaw Control for a more precise torque split between the axles, as an option.

Meanwhile, customers will also be offered a power-sliding panoramic roof, heated rear seats, a seven-inch infotainment, a head-up display and, for the first time ever, Mitsubishi’s Connect services.

“2018 represents an exciting next chapter for Mitsubishi Motors, and the all-new Eclipse Cross is a large part of that story,” said Don Swearingen, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Mitsubishi North America. “The Eclipse Cross builds on the strong Mitsubishi heritage of automotive performance, technology and fun-to-drive dynamics revived in a CUV. We’re excited to add the Eclipse Cross to our established CUV lineup and know it will continue to fuel the brands current sales momentum.”

Mitsubishi’s Rogue Sport rival will slot right beneath the 2018 Outlander, which was also introduced recently at the company’s U.S. dealerships.

All models of the 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will be offered with a 10 years/100,000 miles warranty for the powertrain, 5-year/60,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty, 7 years/100,000 miles anti-corrosion/perforation warranty and, finally, a 5-year/unlimited mileage roadside assistance program.
