Mitsubishi, Meralco electric vehicle charging station at DENR Central Office

Top officials representing Meralco, Mitsubishi Motors, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) were on hand to witness the official opening of an EV charging station held recently at the DENR Central Office in Quezon City.

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC), Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC), and the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) unveiled its electric vehicle (EV) quick charging station at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Central Office in Quezon City held last February 15.

The charging station was donated by MMPC in fulfillment of its role in the reduction of environmental pollutions following a grant of 10 EV units from MMC from its Mitsubishi i-MiEV and Outlander PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) lines.

The i-MiEV is Mitsubishi’s five-door hatchback electric car, while the Outlander PHEV is the world’s first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle mid-size SUV.

“We are already working with the DENR to conduct a study on how to reduce carbon emissions through the use of electric vehicles. The creation of a charging infrastructure is a crucial step in enabling the market growth of electric vehicles in the Philippines,” said MMPC President and CEO Mutsuhiro Oshikiri.

Other EV charging stations lined up for installation at the DENR offices in Cebu and Davao, as well as the DTI office in Makati City, have also been donated by MMPC.

The car manufacturer has been at the forefront of EV development and was the first to bring in a pure electric car in the country. MMPC’s engagement with the DENR and DTI is just one of EV proliferations activities with various other Philippine government agencies and the private sector, including Meralco, in recent months.

Recognizing Meralco’s prominence in the power space, MMPC commissioned Meralco’s subsidiary, MSERV, to construct the EV charging stations equipped with CHAdeMO quick charging technology.

http://www.automarket.ro/stiri/alianta- ... 83081.html

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation

Effective April 1st, Fred Diaz will succeed Ryujiro Kobashi as President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc (MMNA). According to the company, Diaz will lead Mitsubishi Motors’ business in North America leveraging his 29 years of sales, marketing, and customer relations experience in the United States. Kobashi will return to Mitsubishi Motors’ headquarters to assume an important role in overseas sales in Tokyo, Japan.

“With his in-depth background and experience in North America, Fred has a strong ability to proactively engage with Mitsubishi Motors’ dealers and customers as we aim to expand our dealership network, enhance our brand, and drive sales growth,” said Trevor Mann, Chief Operating Officer, MMNA.

In October, Mitsubishi Motors announced its three-year Drive for Growth plan, which aims to improve the company’s U.S. dealership network and grow sales by 30 percent to 130,000 units per year. The automaker notes that under Kobashi’s leadership, MMNA was able to rebuild Mitsubishi Motors’ sales and successfully launch the Eclipse Cross CUV as well as other important models in North America.

Mitsubishi opens new stamping shop in Santa Rosa. Raises Mirage local content to 35 percent

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) is shifting Mirage production into high gear with the opening of a new stamping shop in its manufacturing facility in Santa Rosa, Laguna.

The new Stamping shop contains a 2,000-ton stamping machine, the biggest of its kind in the Philippines. It has the capacity to produce 35,000 units, in two shifts per year, enabling Mitsubishi Motors to dramatically scale up local production of the Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback and Mirage G4 sedan.

The addition of this machinery allows Mitsubishi to press body and chassis panels for the Mirage models within the factory. This reduces the need to import pressed body and chassis panels, and increases the local content of the Philippine-built vehicles. Prior to this, metal stamped parts were being ordered from Mitsubishi Motors Thailand Co. Ltd. (MMTh).

To achieve efficient operation of the machine, MMPC sent engineers to Mitsubishi Motors Corporation Japan (MMC) to learn the proper stamping processes, use, maintenance and repair of the machine, plus the care of the stamping die — the very part that presses and forms the parts out of sheet metal.

The opening of the new shop facility comes on the heels of the inauguration of the Santa Rosa Plant in 2015 and represents an important step in Mitsubishi Motors’ plans to expand its presence in the fast-growing Philippine automotive market.Since its inauguration in January 2015, MMPC’s Santa Rosa Plant has already provided 600 additional jobs.

Mitsubishi, after all, is the first car manufacturer to join the Philippine government’s Comprehensive Automotive Resurgence Strategy (CARS) program. As agreed upon for the program, in 2023, MMPC will have produced 200,000 units of the Mirage and Mirage G4. Besides the promised quantity, another requirement is to locally source at least 50-percent of the vehicle’s assembly weigh.

The opening of the new Stamping shop coincides with the announcement that Mitsubishi Motors has raised the local content of the Mirage to 35-percent, and will increase it further to fulfil the key requirement of the CARS program.

“The opening of our new Stamping shop is the beginning of a new chapter in the story of Mitsubishi Motors’ operations here in Philippines. This Stamping shop enables us to turn the aspiration of localized production into a reality, further building our presence in the Philippines, at the same time as strengthening our offering to consumers,” said MutsuhiroOshikiri, MMPC President and CEO.

http://www.automarket.ro/stiri/mitsubis ... 83251.html
